Buddy Books are fun, multi-sensory books books built to entertain, engage and educate children ages K-12.
At Coosa Books we believe all children should be able to enjoy and explore stories which serve their educational needs regardless of physical challenges, socio-economic realities or unique learning styles.
How do we as publishers go about accomplishing all this?
At Coosa, our good book builders approach means we start with quality writers and illustrators. We do not accept A.I. work of any kind. As a team we look for places we can lay foundations along these four basic sensory pathways:
Auditory
Visual
Tactile
Kinesthetic
We then make or outsource requests for tactile and multi sensory pieces like the following to be made:
high contrast illustrations
textures / raised line drawings
moving parts
pop-ups / envelopes
space markers
music, song, or other soundscapes
braille and large print
and even smells!
CLOSING EQUITY GAPS
with data-driven adaptive materials.
To close equity gaps, publishers must provide teachers with adaptive material.
Traditional "one-size-fits-all" approaches often reinforce existing disparities, whereas adaptive materials help level the playing field.
Educators do need a curriculum designed to serve a diverse group of students in one classroom setting.
Our panels and story pages offer engaging entry points for all young learners.
By merging high-interest, visual storytelling with complex, real-world topics, our curriculums give learners a clear path they need to bridge the gap between abstract academic standards and practical, everyday life situations.
Bringing standards to life outside the classroom, gives students the confidence they need to pursue a wide range of skills and competencies.
Beyond academic skills The Nova Project and its highly relatable characters help children develop the soft skills they need.
These fundamentals transferable skills equip students with the confidence they need to manage complex 21st century situations
They are the building blocks for college and to become and career ready.
GATHERING DATA
Our team of professional educators, developmental coaches, curriculum designers and illustrators, take a strategic approach to collecting data and feedback from purchasers.
This approach ensures The Nova Project adapts easily, remains evidence-based and fully engages with students in their journey -wherever they may be.
Together we can foster critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication (the 4Cs)—in hopes to better prepare all students for a rapidly evolving, digitally driven world.
Sharing stories through a visual format like The Nova Project is especially important for children in today’s technologically advanced, integrated learning ecosystems.
When students relate to recognizable characters and familiar storylines, they are more responsive, more thoughtful, and so naturally they begin to self-direct and self-motivate.
By transforming the learning experience into a place where joy sparks further investigation into real-world phenomena, kids go from passive recipients to active researchers.
This shift positions them to see their educational experience from a different perspective.
New neural pathways are created.
Empathy grows. Attention spans increase.
Fluidity and cognitive function thrive.
