Conceived by professional educators, learning leaders, developmental coaches, and informed by the students and children we all work to serve.
The HoneyBell Lab is a bespoke maker space that mixes great storytelling, highly stylized art, and even music, to turn tough subjects or abstract concepts in relatable, step-by-step visual/audio/tactile journeys.
Our in-house network of professional educators, parents, and nonprofit partners help guide content creation. Their inclusion ensures all material is pedagogically sound.
Our trained cultural translators, developmental coaches, and certified trauma-sensitive team members help ensure storylines are attentive to culture and psychological safety.
From our rich illustrative, tailored educational panels, to fully-realized comic books and graphic novelettes, we help shift the way students receive and retain information.

Educators & Content Specialists:
Our educators and specialists (often including our clients themselves, students, teachers and community leaders ) develop curriculums, lesson plans, and educational components that turn our visual learning panels into teaching tools.
The studio operates through a multi-stage, iterative process, ensuring visual and educational goals are met.
Our network of educators and developmental coaches provide guidance to ensure the content is tailored to specific age groups, social-emotional needs, and learning goals.
Their inclusion is crucial to our core design protocols and helps ensure the material we create is not just entertaining, but also pedagogically sound and suitable for both schools and interpersonal settings.
Family-Owned Core
Our family-owned creative studio works closely with our team of authors, illustrators, learning facilitators, and developmental coaches to foster passionate and consistent creative visions designed to align with the needs of our partners and the children they serve.
Visual Development:
Our incredibly talented Illustrators (no AI ) create character profiles and rough thumbnail sketches, which are then reviewed and refined by the team to ensure the visual storytelling plan will bridge gaps and support the text narrative.
We embrace organic cycles of the natural world around us and use an intentional design core to teach kids.
Supplementary Curricula
Together, our entire team creates classroom-ready materials, teacher/parent/community guides, or workshop/activity/play structure formats that accompany the panels, comics, and books!
We adhere to The Authors Guild of America's policy on AI
Production & More Review
The team works on final art, inking, coloring, and adding dialogue in a way that further allows the text and images to function seamlessly.
Student-Created Content
Encouraging students to create their own comics to process difficult emotions or demonstrate understanding of sensitive topics, means relatability. When a child begins to understand how what they are being taught factors into their own lives, they become eager to engage in applying what they are reading and learning. Creating a comic strip requires sequential learning and play, while building confidence and creative skills. Flexible output means stick figures are ok! Everybody can tell their story through this format.
21st Century Skills
We believe nurturing a growth mindset means teaching children 21st-century skills like empathy, perseverance, collaboration, self-control, critical thinking, creativity, and adaptability. Providing a window into the lived experiences of others aids in the development of emotional intelligence.
When children feel safe to “tell” their own stories, they can begin to see themselves and how they might move forward in the wide world around them.
Why These Visual Format Models Work
Visual journeys are highly effective teaching tools, allowing students to engage simultaneously with the material in the same setting at their own pace! Visual graphics reduce the cognitive load that traditional, text heavy material creates and gives children room to imagine and explore!
Ideas are born. Memories are stored.
Kids need space and time for all the working areas of the brain to do their job as they learn to read! Think of that in-between where the lobes involved in word storage and recollection meet as the white space you see between each panel (gutters) in a comic book or graphic novel.
That is also the space children imagine, relate, and engage in learning to love reading.
Curriculum Rubrics and Metrics
We understand the importance of measurable data. Our educational comics can be delivered with complete, ready-to-use curriculum packages and performance metric tools.
Easy access means you can save time when you need to discover or record benchmarks.
Imagining and retelling storylines from our comics can easily be used by leaders to offer children a tactile reading and writing activity.
This means readers can demonstrate their unique understanding of sensitive or complex topics and abstract concepts through their own art and writing.
When we encourage students to create their own comics, we can help teach them to employ inference skills, problem-solving, and critical thinking skillsets!
Our publishing page means we provide an online space where students can choose to have their versions of the stories published online. (Coppa compliant)
Young learners not only become published authors— but educational partners have easy access to real-time data.
Deliverables
We deliver our comic books to our partners and families through print or digital formatting— perfect for schools, families, community members, and nonprofit partners to distribute to young readers wherever or whenever they need to!

Teacher Testimony
We Love Our Teachers' Feedback!
Jaren Francis (High School Community in Schools Counselor)
“This introverted kid, a student who has endured so many obstacles and challenges, heard about the Honeybell Lab curriculum and sought the class out! He collaborated with another student to help him brainstorm his character sheet and career passions. Through the creation of his character, he discovered his own superpower! Motivational speaking! AMAZING!”
Kevin Burrows (Middle School Career Connections Teacher)
“The students were very actively engaged in the lesson and participated well throughout the entire class period. Students showed interest in the topic by contributing to discussions, asking questions, and remaining focused on assigned activities. I also observed positive peer interaction and a classroom environment that supported student participation and learning.”
Kevin Jennison (High School Graphic Design Teacher)
“It gave me the opportunity to interact personally as the kids were working. I had fun during the sessions.”
“I highly recommend Honeybell Lab’s career readiness/self-regulation curriculum. Students were fired up and actively engaged throughout the entire class period! They were asking questions, remained focused, and demonstrated social-emotional learning while brainstorming their ideas with each other. There was a healthy balance between verbal instructions and hands-on activities.”
